The latest range of figures from the Legends line offers the collector an interesting mix of figures. We have figures from both original and new trilogies and you are sure to want to pick up at least one of the range.

The Legends range has always divided collectors.On the one hand you are picking up some of the best figures with modern sculpts on the other you are buying a simply repackaged figure.

This brings us on nicely to the actual packaging. The new waves feature the packaging revealed at the Summer's SDCC. It does look impressive and I like the photorealistic paintings featuring the different characters on the front. I do feel the one showing Chewie in breathing mask is a little over done, but is a nice touch.

One thing sure to upset collectors though is the lack of perferations added to the bubble on the last packaging style.

This means that if you want to take the figure out, the packaging is going to be compromised to some extent - a concern, when you consider that this range is best suited for collectors who missed the figures first time around.

Verdict

The new range of Legends figures offers a number of figures collectors will love to have if they have missed them in the past. There is also a good split of figures from the original and new trilogies.

The numerous Clone Troopers may be only for completists, but the inclusion of Chewie is a bonus, especially when the last version was that with a bandage round his leg from the Legacy figures from the deleted sandstorm scene from Jedi.

Collectors Note

You might want to hold off from buying the R2-D2 as there is a new one due to be released in the Legacy range. This new version features a detachable ion surge that enables you to re-enact his stunning by the Jawa's in a New Hope.

Similarly the Sandtrooper being offered here seems to only come in a spotlessly clean version with black pauldron. Previous legends waves offered the figure in a rage of pauldron colours and states of cleanliness. I was eager to pick up the orange pauldron version with heavy blaster, which is not available in this release(see below).
